What happens in a fitting?

The fitting is about us getting to know you and your dress. It’s an opportunity to discuss the alterations and additions required to your gown to get it fitting beautifully and comfortably. You will need to try on your dress in our fitting room so that it can be pinned to your figure and height. This is the perfect time to make any other changes such as adding or removing any elements. Don’t be afraid to share your ideas with us as we will be able to advise you further and offer suggestions that you may not have thought of!

How many fittings will I need?

You will have 2 fittings, a first fitting and a final fitting collection appointment. 

We include 2 x 30 minute appointments when you come to us, occasionally extra fittings will be needed.​

Due to the volume of dresses that we are working on, we prioritise them in order of event date. This helps to ensure that every dress is completed in time for the special event and allows us to focus fully on each dress.

​It’s completely natural for us to become quiet after your first fitting; this allows us to dedicate our attention to perfecting your dress. We will be in touch when we are ready to invite you in for your final fitting.

Who can I bring with me to my fitting?

We encourage you to bring someone along with you to share the experience with you. There is enough room for 2 friends or family members to watch the fitting process. 

 
How much will my alterations cost?

If your prom dress requires standard adjustments such as taking up straps, taking up the skirt length with low to mid-volume skirts (1–3 layers) and minor alterations to enhance the fit then expect to pay £50 - £250.

If your prom dress needs intensive alterations to achieve the ideal silhouette and fit expect to pay £300 - £400. This would include changes such as taking in multiple sizes or reshaping darts & side seams, taking up skirt length with hems 3+ layers or high-volume, intricate hems, reshaping the bust for a more customised fit, changing necklines.​

For more significant and advanced alterations / additions, expect to pay £400 - £500.

We will discuss any additions that you would like to make your prom dress more unique and talk through options that you may not have thought of. This is a way to customise your dress such as adding sleeves or embellishments. Additions are priced separately to standard alterations due to the custom nature of the work involved.

We do our best to provide you with a price estimate during your initial fitting. It’s important to note that it can be challenging to quote an exact price for more intricate alterations & additions at this stage, as we need to access the specifics of your dress. Sometimes there are hidden elements of your dress that aren’t clear until we start working on your prom dress.

We recommend setting aside the larger amount to be prepared.

A deposit of £50 to £100 is require before we commence work on your dress, which will be deducted from your final bill. Our prices include VAT.

The remaining balance will be due upon collection. We will inform you of the balance prior to your collection.

What should I wear to a fitting?

We may need to take your body measurements during your consultation so please wear clothes that allow accurate measurements to be taken. Loose and baggy clothing is not suitable as it will add inches and will distort your body shape. 

Please also bring your shoes, underwear, petticoat (if you are wearing one) and a hair tie / clip.

When should I book in for alterations?

We recommend getting in contact as soon as you have purchased your dress so we can get you in our calendar!

We get booked up very quickly, especially during peak season.

We are often able to accommodate any timeline, though we do charge rush fees for any prom dress alterations that we must complete within less than 4 weeks.
